Dear JemJem, Here I am again with your goodnight candle. I still love and miss you very much, and I wish very much that you were still with me. The weather was cool today with some showers. The temperature now is 11 degrees, and will sink to 9 degrees then rise to a high of 13 degrees tomorrow. Yellow warnings of rain are till in force,and we may have snow. I am still reading Stranger in a strange Land. I thought of you because you were a historian and you loved trains when I saw an internet article in which a haunting series of pictures show the modern remains of Stalin's 'Railway to Nowhere' built on the bones of around 300,000 Gulag prisoners who died constructing the notorious 785-mile track. Ghostly relics of rusting steam engines and bent, contorted rails just below the Arctic Circle remain a monument to the ruler's folly.. I wish you were here with me..
