Janet's favourite story

Created by Angela 9 years ago
Jeremy was a good cook, something in which he was encouraged by Janet, his stepmother. Janet liked to tell this story:

One day she was in the garden at the family home in Hadley Wood, when Jeremy came out to ask where the bicarbonate of soda (baking powder) might be. Janet told him, and Jeremy trotted off happily.
This was however too much for the neighbour, who had been in her own garden and had overheard the exchange. She popped her head over the fence, consumed by curiousity, to enquire:
"Mrs Sabin, I heard your son ask for bicarbonate of soda. What did he want that for?"
To which Janet replied:
"He's baking scones"

The neighbour retired nonplussed and silenced.
And Jeremy produced a batch of scones.
